Feeding scheme for growing piglets

     The fodder production scheme for piglets is a science-based, universal, easy-to-use system for feeding pigs from birth to slaughter.

The scheme provides for the beginning of a non-dairy subcorrection of piglets from the 4th day of life with special pre-fodder mixed fodders (20 g dose per day). At the time of training and in the suckling period, the piglets have free access to the presenter and consume it on demand. The composition and properties of the proposed mixed feed provide normalized self-feeding of pigs with an average increase in daily consumption within the controlled daily limits.

Pigs consume 300 g by the end of the 4th week, and by the end of the 7th - 700 g of the starter per day. The term of weaning young animals from queens depends on its breed, a hybrid of piglets and mass at birth. The decisive factor is the live weight of the piglet, which during the weaning period should reach at least 6.5-7 kg.

According to the scheme, the piglets reach this this mass by 4-5 weeks. To exclude feed stress in young animals during weaning, the composition of the piglets' feeding does not change, they still consume the preterm. Animals do not have a phase of getting used to a new food, the immune system suffers less from exclusion of mother's milk, cases of edematous disease are practically excluded. Such a feeding scheme provides for an average daily increase in the weight of piglets in the suckling period-290-300 g.

From 7-8 weeks of life (it is important that the living weight is 14-15 kg), it is recommended to add feed for growing piglets with inclusion of BVD to the preterer. The number of the pretender is gradually decreasing, and the feed is increased. By the end of 7-8 weeks there is a final transition to the consumption of mixed fodder.

During the period of growing, the level of BVD in mixed feeders is increased to 25%, and the feeding level is 300-375 g per day per head. At the moment when piglets reach the age of the first fattening phase, the dose of BVD decreases to 15% by weight of the mixed feed, and grammage is 330-405 g per head per day.
In the last phase of fattening, the level of BVD is reduced to 10% by mass, with a head flow rate of 310-350 g.

As a result, during the fattening period of piglets to slaughter mass, 41.4-44.4 kg of BVD per head are consumed.

As a basic part of the diet, a standard grain mixture and vegetable protein supplements can be used.
This approach to the organization of feeding greatly simplifies the technology of feeding, reduces the principle of the formation of a full-fledged mixed feed exclusively to establishing the ratio of the grain part and BVD. At the same time, the quality of the preparation of the feed mixture on adapted, simplified feed mills is not in doubt.
      The consumer buys balanced BVD for a certain period of pig production and uses it for the entire period of the fattening process. Forecasts of the economic effectiveness of this approach to feeding pigs are maximally favorable.

The duration of piglets' cultivation is 25-26 weeks (6 months), the final live weight of animals at the face (delivery to the meat-packing plant) is 110-115 kg, the cost of mixed feed for the growing period is 300-340 kg per head.

Thus, the advantages of this piglets feeding system are:

  • reduction to a minimum of fodder stress in pigs associated with weaning piglets, changing the phases of cultivation, switching from one feed recipe to another;
  • minimization of feed costs per 1 kg of pigs' weight gain;
  • reduction of the fattening period from birth to slaughter up to 6 months.
